Here’s how:

  1. Make sure each link has a ‘unique’ family with a ‘unique’ Mark parameter.  For example, put a Sprinkler family with a Mark of 1234567 into each RVT link.
  2. In the ‘Site’ RVT, create a Sprinkler Schedule.
  3. Tick ‘Include elements in linked files’
  4. Add parameters –
    RVT Link:File Name
    Mark
    Count
  5. Filter by Mark = 1234567
  6. Sort By
    RVT Link: File Name
  7. Untick ‘Itemize every instance’.

The Count field should be showing how many of each RVT Link you have in the project.

“A study commissioned by the Australian Government’s Built Environment Industry Innovation Council has found that BIM improves the productivity of the building sector significantly.”

Building Information Modelling to boost Australia’s prosperity | Construction Contractor

“Widespread adoption of BIM will result in cleaner, healthier buildings – both new and renovated – with improvements in material consumption, energy efficiency, carbon emissions and the productivity of occupants. On average, an owner could save up to 10 per cent on the cost of their building,” Senator Carr said.

Jose Guia has also responded to the challenge. Here is a direct link to the program he created:

EDIT: Jose’s blog seems to be down, here is a link that works

He has done a nice job – his program is a little bit more advanced than Rod Howarth’s version. He includes a few more statistics, and the folders are already setup for RAC.  It also links into the Revit Forum thread.

This is a scary stat from my analysis:
Total times you used the ESCAPE KEY          : 8520  (387 presses on average per session)
Nasty!
