It even gives me a step-by-step on how to do it properly. Revit is truly telling me What it Wants … and it doesn’t want to deal with Areas and Design Options!
“Areas and Area Boundaries are not allowed in Design Options. Make an Area Scheme and an Area Plan for this Option then draw all Areas and Area Boundaries in that view.“
That is one of the few decent error msgs, but it still frustrates me to no end that- once ive managed to teach teams to use Design options efficiently- i then have to explain to them that Areas and Area Schemes disregard those rules entirely, and with no good explanation of why. So i typically tell them "The guy that built the area tool didnt like the guy that built the DO tool." lol…
Yeah its a pain – New Area Scheme, New Schedules (can't duplicate schedules from other schemes), New Color Schemes (cannot use colour scheme from different area scheme).
I guess Areas and Boundary lines live somewhere between 2D and 3D, and if they aren't really Model elements, DO probably can't understand them.
