Having looked at Vault as well as other tools, there still is not one that offers a robust integration into Revit. By this, I see a tool that should take advantage of the searching the data in the families (OmniClass,size, etc…) and be able to insert while in Revit (utilizing type catalogs).
Vault appears to work well, but the downfall we saw is that it cannot insert a type from a type catalog. This is difficult as a lot a families utilize type catalogs.
I tend to agree that Vault isn't the perfect answer – yet.
Some firms will struggle to implement it because they may not even be running a SQL Server or a File Server.
